Denture Treatment Process
1. Denture Type
After initial consultations and evaluation, you will need to evaluate the types of dentures appropriate for your case. Dentures are available in a wide range of styles and materials, each with its own pros and cons. You and your Dental Prosthetist will evaluate these together to find the most suitable denture for your goals.
Common Options Include:
- Full cosmetic dentures/ Digital Dentures
- Partial dentures
- Denture repair
- Dental implants
Initial Impression
An initial impression or digital scan will be taken of your mouth, along with an assessment of the soft tissue and any remaining teeth. This initial impression is often taken by an intraoral scanner or using a soft-putty-like material and will be used to design initial casts of the dentures.
2) “Try-In” Stage (digital dentures)
At this step, you will be provided a 3D printed template of your future denture to try in-mouth for feel, form, function and aesthetic. At this stage, minor modifications can be made to ensure an optimal fit and desired appearance. You may require more visits in the case of conventional dentures.
3) Finished Denture
At this final step, you will be provided with the finalized set of dentures to take home and use. You will be provided with care and maintenance instructions and everything you need to enjoy your new set of pearly whites for decades to come.
